Fans have long criticized Samsung for keeping the Good Lock app, which enables a ton of customization for the user interface on Galaxy smartphones and tablets, limited to select countries and regions.
Samsung hinted that the situation could change with the release of One UI 7.0 (Android 15) for Galaxy devices, and one of the company's employees has now provided official confirmation for the same.
As a bonus, Samsung will also make the app available for download from the Play Store. It is currently available exclusively through the Galaxy Store.
Samsung's plan to put Good Lock on the Play Store was initially revealed when the Play Store listing temporarily went live ahead of schedule in early 2024. It will please those who prefer getting all their apps from Android's default app store.
Samsung hasn't offered the exact timeline for any of this, but we can assume the worldwide and Play Store availability will go into effect once the official One UI 7 update starts rolling out to the Galaxy S24 series and other eligible devices. According to rumors, One UI 7 will leave the beta stage sometime in February.
